"The
solid performance of the Duo FreeRando surprised many testers
who logically expected just another Euro rando ski. Reacts well
to changing conditions, who knew I'd ever say a rando ski was ripping
it up! For ski-mountaineers, long distance, and weight conscious
skiers, the Duo FreeRando's featherlight performance may be just
the ticket. Great potential in a multi-day traverse ski!"

"The Duo
FreeRando, true to its European roots, is a ski mountaineering board;
a short radius turner and a good tool for technical skiing. The
Duo FreeRando has a solid platform and enough torsional rigidity
to handle steep firm conditions. It is a great choice for technical
spring touring" Offpiste 2008 |

"The Duo
FreeRando utilizes carbon-reinforced quadraxial glass to strengthen
torsional rigidity without gaining weight. And it doesn't sink.
The Duo design increases shovel surface area, working against tip
dive while breaking trail and skiing powder. Feather light and
floats better than you think." - Backcountry 2007 |

"In
soft snow the Duo FreeRando's soft tip seems perfectly balanced
with the solid mid-section that holds a great edge on firm and icy
snow, even with speed. Wonder what the dual tip is about? It
secures racing skins in place, but it also increases the surface
area by 22% for better flotation in powder, without excess weight"

| "Trab
skis are carefully built in a small modern factory in Bormio, Italy.
The Duo FreeRando is a mid-fat (112/79/96), which is my favorite
dimension class for backcountry skiing that involves much earned
vertical, as such skis can be built a bit lighter than fatties,
pick up less snow on top while breaking trail, and sometimes have
an overall more nimble feel than bigger skis. After spending time
with the Duo Free Rando, my take is that Trab definitely found
a sweet spot in the mix of width, construction and sidecut.
The skis feel smooth and carvy on most hardpack. Overall I like
the Trab Duo FreeRando. They feel nimble on my feet, look good,
and ski smooth. Nice for backcountry skiing!" - Lou Dawson,

| "The
Duo FreeRando offers a good balance between light and capable.
Like its European roots would lead you to believe, this ski is made
for mountaineering. It has a short radius bias and is a good tool
for technical skiing. It is the ski to grab when grams count or
for your local rando race series. When the snow conditions get tough
and your legs are tired, the FreeRando will get you down the hill."

| "I
was skeptical of the "duo" tip and split tail at first,
thinking that they would be a hassle for fitting skins. But the
tip and tail connectors provided by Trab work really well. It's
the slickest system I've seen. The skis are really light, I'm
delighted that they have completely satisfied my weight requirements.
The thing that impressed me most about the Duo FreeRandos was
how easily they turned. I was skiing cut-up powder, and they
turned easier than my other skis would have. For me, nimbleness
and turnability is a good thing. I let the skis run in some longer
radius turns, they felt stable. My initial impression is that I'm
going to like these skis." -
